Canola

The nearby canola contract is starting to make some bigs moves as per usual as it goes off the board. Hopefully it drags the rest of the months with it. Getting real close to some of my sales targets.

I still have a couple of winter holidays to go on....and pay for the ones I've been on already. I prefer to give my money to the airlines than the equipment dealers.

Wheat basis starting to erode with the strengthening dollar. I hope some of you booked a little. $10/t change in the last three weeks.

Sorry bucket, farming is just a sideline. It only gobbles up 75% of my life. The rest of the time I'm eating or sleeping. 10 more years or $2 million dollars, which ever comes first.

Charlie local basis here took a shit kicking this last month. Up to 30 under may for march del. No feb delivery any more. Need rail cars. Notice louise dreyfus has a much better price but it costs a little more to get it there. Bunge altona has a super better price but delivery eats that up also. I am like crusher going to spend family time not road time. Perhaps a basis target is in order.

Canola Weekly

Canola still seems to be a tough pill at this price, especially considering last years production.

Yep. We are just stewards of the land until the houses or plants are built. Haven't owned any of it for several years.

May Canola charted against Mar Cad dollar.
Low dollar clearly influencing canola. Good increase in open interest together with higher prices.
