They are making more farmland everyday

Often cited by land bulls as the reason why land can't go down in price is they are not making more of it. Well here in southern AB it is unbelievable how much set aside (pasture and hay land) is being put into cropping. We even have a grazing coop locally leasing out irrigated AB crown pasture land out for the production of potatoes and canola seed. Main way cattle producers are subsidized around here is cheap crown grazing land. This is one of the reasons why stats Can is actually low on their 2014 production estimates. (sorry SF3) There is still more land being broken this fall.

Short sighted. How do you increase cattle numbers without pasture.

When those pastures were being ripped the guy should have been buying cheap cows.

I've seen 10's of millions of acres with my own eyes on this planet that could be broke or more intensively farmed. Eastern Africa and Siberiea are top of mind even the middle east and SE asia could do much better. The is no shortage of land, there is however a shortage political stability and knowledge.

Acres of bush, old yards and fence lines still going down around here by those with the most acres. And of course all the drainage adding acres. Way too much crop production to scare commodities higher.

                Like that's mattered.....

The poor(majority) that have high birthrates can't afford to pay more and the rich in comparison (minority) care more about hot holidays, "toys" and lifestyles.
