    Fire at Yorkton Canola Plant

    Fire officials said at 10 a.m. CST that all employees had been evacuated from the site.

    The initial fire has been extinguished and Yorkton Fire Department is working to prevent any further fires.

    Highway 16 is open, but the entrance to the business has been closed, the fire department said.

    It's believed the explosion was caused after dust at the plant ignited, he said.

    Maloney said the fire happened in meal pellet storage area and not the main building of the canola-crushing plant.

    One person suffered minor injuries. An employee was taken to hospital with a hurt ankle.

        When the co-op upgrader starts on fire it causes a shortage and price goes up, lookout!!

            It was not the crush side so shouldn't effect any crushing. Its bagging the meal.
