    Columbia Grain

    We are on the verge of selling some Durum to Columbia grain. It would be going to Sweet Grass, Montana. The office where we are dealing is in Great Falls. I'm wondering if any of you have dealt with Columbia grain and if there is any horror stories to tell. Got paid on time? Dockage levels were reasonable? Etc. Etc. Etc.?

      I spoke to them a couple of weeks ago. Then sent our Durum sample to Montana lab. It came back #5 with 4% Fuz so our jets were cooled for awhile. Plentywood elevator is closed for renos until November.

      Let us know how you make out, guess you will know when you dump your first truckload. What is your grain grading here?

          Boy, do I wish I still had last year's durum, would have likely nearly doubled my money if I did and shopped it South. 90%(plus) HVK and protein about 12.5%(room for improvement). It looked and WAS good. This year, not so good.....

              I took them samples a week ago and they graded some a 1 and some a 2. It all has falling numbers near or above 300. They seem to want it. It was graded by a Montana lab.

                  Hauled 25000bu of durum to columbia plentywood with my own truck in July, great people to work with, paid on time and everything went smooth, make sure you have good samples and no surprises

                      We have never dealt with Columbia Grain so I did a little more research.

                      Columbia Grain has an interesting website. Logistics pulling product to their grain port facility in Portland, Oregon.

                      Looks like they have origination across Montana and North Dakota.

                      There were no bad stories on Google News search either.

                      The more sales & grain moving channels we have the better.

                          Sold durum to them last year. Final grade comes from head office or state. Was pretty much what they said. No problems with checks just have to wait a couple weeks for money.Used to wait 1 or 2 years for cwb checks so no big deal. Sure don't miss that.

                              After all this it didn't happen. We sold it to the CWB at Plenty, S.K.
