    All These Shields

We are trouble-shooting blind cause we can't see anything. These new combines all covered with shields make break-downs so frustrating.

On our 9870 we took off all shields that can be removed..Easier to get chaff off with the leaf blower too...

I don't think their original intent was to make the machine look pretty by hiding all the "dangerous
moving parts". Safety first, inconvenient as it may be at times. t

Farmer said once if you can not stand looking at moving parts you should not be combining.. He took off some shields....That was 35 years ago....

Our 8570 has no inner shields on it.

Body panels stand off 3 feet from the body of the combine, and shield it well enough. When you need to do something, you can.

I wonder if that's why KMK has been selling so many combines around here... They actually stock parts and service men.

Ultimately, they were put there for safety. Not to make the machine look pretty. You decide how safe you want to be, with or with out them on. u

5 days for a discharge beater belt is ridiculous. Our Jd dealer seems to have what we need 90 percent of the time.
