    1 st HRSW test plot

    Goodeve and Carberry

    Goodeve - 1.2 mph less, 20% more power, but 1 bus/ac more
    Done with weigh wagon
Carberry is 6 in shorter with almost no lodging - Lodged Goodeve is a bitch to pick up.
Some ergot in Goodeve - none in Carberry. Neither has Fus. Get grade and protien tomorrow. The first 80 ac of Carberry is #1, 14 pro .
    Goodeve a point dryer.

No Kulger on the plots? Looking for a new HRSW. Sticking with carberry over goodeve for next year?

Thanks for posting furrow. Enjoy reading real test results from actual farms. Keen on trying Carberry or Cardale, depending on maturity dates.

      Regards,

All with Kugler so far, 54 lbs N with seed - 2, 6 ltr/ac shots - one with herbicide and one with fungicide. So far the yield between 65 and 70 bus.
The Goodeve was 69 bus and the Carberry was 68 on the weigh wagon in that plot.
Protien was about the same on both.
Hopefully get into the Kugler trials later today with different rates
And yes we are thinking the switch will happen - goodeve just grows too tall with too much lodging. The carberry is shorter, and much easier to thrash - Had to go from a 1/4 in on concaves to 1/8 in the goodeve. Carberry

Thanks for info furrow. That being said every area has different results for certain varieties. We grew carberry the last 2 years and it was our worst yielder. Best to thrash. Short straw and average protein. If it works for you stick with it. I find changing varieties to quickly can cost a guy a lot of money on certain years. Last year was one of those occasions. Will be interested to hear your results on Kugler.

What have you compared Carberry too? Only had the two varieties this year.

            plot 2 - 6 lt/ac XRN with fungicide
            67.39

            plot 3 - 3 lt/ac 2075 with herbicide
            - 3 lt/ac XRN with fungicide
            65.1

            plot 4 - 6 lt/ac 2075 with herbicide
            - 6 ltr/ac XRN with fungicide
            71.2
