Organic HRSW wanted

Why would they contract to end user without the farmer as source.

I think they have been actively buying old crop inventory. Some organic farmers keep some inventory for the "big" price.
I always need money so I am usually forward contracted and sold out before the the "big" prices appear.
I dont know too much about the organic wheat market I am just relaying the message because sometimes this is a commodity marketing forum!

when i called, they were looking for old crop but willing to deal on new crop if samples looked ok. They specifically said they want protein tests done in house and wont rely on others test results. I expect organic HRSW (milling grade) to increase significantly over the next 6 months, so my thought is there trying to get what's left in guys bins before the price jumps.


I know a few organic farmers who hold grain for a year or more waiting for 'the big price'. Unfortunately im not one of them.

I really don't know much about the organic HRSW market. I stopped growing HRSW a long time ago
I have not applied to be JAS certified for the Japanese market. Years ago, I found it expensive and a bureaucratic nuisance. Obviously there is a market in Japan.
I suggest paying for your own in dependant lab protein and falling number tests from the same samples you are going to send to them. This way, you can compare results. If this potential sale does not work out, you have your own test results on file, to fax around to other buyers.

Looking at the price only! That is about what we should be getting for conventional wheat.

Wmoebis, I agree with you, but somehow the rest of the world thinks there are burdensome inventories.
I usually think of organic as half a crop, twice the price. This musing would put conventional HRSW at $9-10/bushel. Like anyone, I have no say or influence on markets. That's frustrating.
