JRI in Killarney are 6 for Oct/Nov delivery.
They were -50 a few weeks ago.

The grain companies know they're gonna be fighting over the wreckage of a crop this year.

        Agreed JayMo.

I had a grain buyer tell me this week the canola carryover will be way lower than the numbers thrown around by the experts.

Anyone have a new crop futures delivery contract with basis open ? Would have been the thing to do with these companies will have to remember the leaders here. Bunge is discusting for years now. Somehow they get their product. Wonderful expensive delivery options where you can lock in a higher price should be close to expiry. Maybe then we can see some action.

Rather surprised by those insisting on mandatory penalties for non performance in contracts between growers and grain companies and who then go on to say these penalties are to be agreed to by both parties.
May sound good but either not very effective or else requires more regulation from grain commission, not what some of us want.

Unintended consequence of penalties to grain companies may be recovery of extra risk cost through basis.
What's next, the grain commission to set basis?

No Hopalong, the Federal Government (which I guess who the CGC is)will set tarriff "caps" on the terminals like they set freight rate caps on the RRs. Wonder how that would go over?

If basis gets too tight I have a feeling all the crushers will undergo 'maintenance' rather than bidding for supply
