BP, do your tanks have low, medium and high ranges(drive chains)? Our 6000 series does and we use them to try and get the transmissions to operate as close to 50 as possible. Have to take what auger is installed into each tank and desired rate into account while choosing chain range. Do the earlier models operate the same?

I think the bourg carts look like they give the seed a rougher ride compared to our old flexicoil metering system.

Crusher have you ever considered the economics of overlap, or sectional control? I do agree simple is good, but at what cost. Then the risk of adapting to new technology and the risk of it not working.

The savings in fert, and seed are huge and make up the extra cost for new equipment financing. The opportunity and risk costs are more difficult to measure.

Bourgault very simple, reliable. Auger metering works well, and accurate. Not many fans of the jd tanks on the combine forum. The flexicoil variable rate carts are very good too. Too bad flexicoil didnt stay in the business, they were far ahead of bg and jd.

          Rareearth,

We have manual sectional control on our anhydrous. I haven't done the math on the payback for sectional control on an air tank. What does a new tank with sectional control cost? And the equipment to control it? Payback on 1,800 acres?

Farmaholic. I have the chains in question in high range all the time except when seeding canola from small tank.
Again my reasons for questioning my next drill are my own. BG is an excellent product.

I think that new seed hawk tank looks pretty sweet.
