Free High Def for Year from Sasktel

Yesterday I had the most frustrating day. About a
week ago, Sasktel called to arrange an
appointment to install a one- year free High
Definition package in our home. Sometime in the
morning all TV and internet service was cut off to
our house, without any notice. i called in to report
the trouble. Iafter the whola speel, i got a foreign
technician who couldn't see anything wrong and
my e-mail started to fill. he told me they were
instructed not to assist with internet trouble and
Sasktel had nothing to do with the problem, but I
still couldn't send an e- mail.

To make a long story short, I spent the entire day
either on- hold or talking to some foreigner who
knew nothing only to receive a call from a
technician from Lubcor who was hired to install
High Speed. i told him to just restore my
services. by 8 in the evening, several hours on
the phone and a trip to Jump with my I Pad, we
    are back at square one.

When someone phones with something free just
hang up fast before they have a chance to screw
    you over.

Oh yeh and furthermore, we already had the
High Speed modem in the basement from before.
We had discontinued that service because of
    problems about a year ago.

If someone would have bothered to look at our
account, they would have known that and all this
problem with ports and passwords would not
have been necessary. They could have just
flipped the switch at the office.

Please explain the high definition part.....and TV from Sasktel??? Sure they have Max TV for cities and a few nearby suburbs....but I've never heard of such services even been contemplated in a rural setting.

Is that the 'Invigor' smile at the bottom of the page???

I expect many Canola growers will be thankful for the returns they net this year!

Better to be a little short... than having markets saying they do not need our seed!

I would say a smile either way.... grow soy... there is plenty of room in the sandbox for everyone!

        Cheers!!!

If you google "Lubcor high definition"; the first and "only" return is your post on agri-ville ....guy.

Are you sure these "guys" had anything to do with Sasktel. As far as I know; its dangerous to allow someone to mess with your ports and such.

I'd worry if Sasktel doesn't have a free one year high definition package. Sounds like somebody could have had control of your computer much of today; and it would be pretty hard to know the intentions of someone who might not be affiliated with Sask Tel.

I believe you most likely meant Ledcor, They are doing installs and maintance all over the province for Sasktel.

Now I am worried. Trying to piece together this
whole fiasco. You know you dont pay that much
attention. I didnt ask for ID.

Starting to hate technology but am so addicted
that when everything is turned off pAnic sets in.
All I can do is hope for the best and prepare for
                the worst.

Just to ease your mind a little s....guy; Sasktel has indeed outsourced their excess installs to an out of province company (Ledcor); who in turn may be using another company to do some of the actual work.
That begs the question what is really going on within Sasktel; but leave that for another day.
What about the free High definition "TV?" that didn't work out. If that was for you as a rural customer; that sounds like it was a MAX/Internet experiment; that hasn't been given any publicity I'm aware of.

Would you be able to share any more details?'

How far are you from a SaskTek "central office"?. If beyond more than a couple of kilometers of copper cable "as installed" and not "as the crow flies" the experts have claimed we are out of range of any "high speed" internet or video streaming service through the landline copper telephone cable.

Maybe they were trying to push the limits.
