    Durum don

Was checking out a US elevator website. I
noticed they allow up to 1% don before
discounting the price. It drops $.25/ bus for each
percent. That was in milling durum.

    Here it's .5% max allowed in 1 & 2.

Why the difference? I assume we are all selling
    into the same market?

Good point. If our system doesn't want to
segregate, due to bin space and cost then the
same standards should be used. If they are
segregating and there is value( and it's shared),
let the narrow specs continue. We are in a area,
told for years we grow the best grain in the world.

What variety of oats? Think your high on the canola yield. Guess we could walk across road and visit but were never home lol. I get to try the soft wheat tonight, lots of wheat coming into viterra now. Feed mill wants some of mine immediately so that will relieve the bin space problem if it was a problem.

Lucky thing you where later in getting the
seed in the ground in Sask. The later
crops look much better than the earlier
ones. Yields are all over the map in the
        area, but generally disappointing.

The ones who are continually a season behind will look like geniuses this year,
that is if they get the crop off in time.

The grain industry will have to look for a North American solution for the new marketing system.

It would be in our best interests. It would also be a good idea to do the same with the grain traffic flow to achieve furthur cost benefits.

If saskatchewan grain could move north south it may become cheaper to move our product.

If a farmer is in the southern areas where it would make more sense to haul to the states maybe thats what has to happen, providing the grading system is more standardized.

After looking at our local price it seems in-line with
the US. The local cash bid for high quality durum
is approx 8.30 but only allowed half the don level
            as US elevator at $8.

Have to compare all the variables when shopping
            durum samples.

It's not so much a grading issue anymore, it's the
            price per bushel that matters.

It's a new way of thinking that western Canada
            has to get used to

Got into the last field of SWS wheat yesterday.... disappointing... 15 bu/ac.

Yeah, no kidding Hopperbin! Neither of us seems to have time.... should be better after harvest!

What ya figure that canola'll do? I'm curious....

              :P

Yeah, for once, being late paid off this year I think.

under 10 but wondering if were talking of the same field. We tested the soft wheat last night and decided to make adjustments in the morning. Got adjustments done and figured too dangerous to work today.

Under 10? Are you talking about the piece that's canola on canola? Next to the HRS?

I'm talking about the quarter next to Possberg's barley.... Those swaths that are as big as the hole on our 722....

How much did they get blown around out there anyway? Hoping /w it being fresh swathed it hasn't all blown out.
