    Thursday Crop Report!

Since harvest is started in some areas
here is a scale for crop in terms of
    Bushels
10 is a 60 bushel crop or better.
    9 is a 54
    8 is a 48
    7 is a 42
    6 is a 36
    5 is a 30
    4 is a 24
and so on if your better 10 plus for
    each 6 bushel.
Ok rain tapered off but humididty is out
    of this world.
HRS is a 5 and has dropped dramitically
due to heavy rain previous week along
with high humidity. Leaf hopper has done
enormous damage. Straw will be a 10 but
crop is a 5, had potential two weeks
    ago.
Durum continues its downward spiral. 5
this week due to leaf hopper and way to
much moisture all season. Sprayed with
full tilt and prosario but still have
    issues.
Barley most are thinner than last year
due to water but still a 10 should have
    been better than that.
Peas have sprayed and every spot the
water or mud was is dead with no peas.
Hills are a 9 nothing in low areas so
    crop is a 4 to 5.
Oats their is now evidence that maybe
the leaf hopper has done something on
oats also. Aborted seeds on plants.
Again fields that were sprayed for
    disease control.
Canola is a 4 to 5. Late fields if it
doesnt freeze till mid to late september
could be 10 plus but their are very few.
All early canola is a 4 or 3. Most
    farmers sprayed headline and then
proline on their canola. No one did a
second app in our area. Lots of trash to
    put through but between sclerotina
alterneria and leaf hopper and aster
    yellow its not good.
Flax has issues with excess moisture as
always field are now starting to show
    weed pressure.
Winter wheat harvest is under way with
very good yields and 12.5 to 13 protein.
Notes pea harvest will begin next week
if rain stays away. Its spitting as I
type this. Swathing of early Canola has
been tried but after two rounds guy quit
and went home. Two fields of very early
HRS are swath. Good luck to all with
    harvest and Best in 2013.

Your forecast is quite deprssing. We went from
bumper crops to low yields in a short time.

How is this crop going to pay for expensive dirt
    and high input costs?

Just get her in the bin, turn on the aeration and
wait for the shortages. One concelation, the
prices are going to compensate in free market,

After the rain, hail and wind not much of a crop in our area. Better crops very late. Frost would be a killer.
Hoping to break even with high prices.
Straw but low yield potential that is still shrinking with disease and insects.
Rain and humidity surely takes grain here.
      What's with AB great crops?
Must have been ideal weather in some places.

Most HRSW here should be 9-10
        Soft wheats 10
Canola - Sprayed with fungicide or Sclero res 7-8. Not sprayed 4-5. Same issues here, earlier canola(before 18th) more severe infections. Later (after 23rd) looks better but a ways to go.
Peas 4-9 not sprayed, sprayed. Some late seeded peas look good for now, a few more rains ??

Furrow all experts in our area agree two apps of
fungicide might have worked this year might. It's
            raining as I type this.

Larry's latest rain total from April to now, we're at
450 plus plus. Dah it's wet. Nice dark blue.

Like I said "this area". South of the river it is much the same as your area, just way too wet for too long.

Wht looks like 60 but with the asters problem it might do 40..Bly hates wet so its looking like 50-55..Canola ...well all got some hail, so the early stuff is flat, late stuff if it makes it will be VG..Might average 15-18...We are over 20 inches of rain so far since snow melt...

Dont like your scale SF3, so will just use bushels. Started peas first 1/4 46, second 1/4 48, 3rd 1/4 51. All the best ones yet to come. Lentils, large greens first stuff dessicated and looks like a 20 from early hail damage. Late stuff a week or so away from dessicating but should be high 20's. First red lentils dessicated, I will eat an entire bin full if they are not 35-40. Early durum dessicated and a week away should be 55 ish. Late durum still a 45 ish. Not all durum will be good in this area. All late stuff unless its navigator will be completely fried. Canola canola canola. Guys knockin it down to green in 33c heat today. Just genius. Will start swathing canola in 5 days not sure what it will yield, but should be minimum 30 and as high as 40-45. Crop is remarkable seeing as no rain to speak of since June 21st.

Jd it always amazes me why guys swath canola
so soon and yea 33 isn't good. Pepper!
                      Nice yields.
