boarderbloke . . . thanks for this post.

      2012 looks a lot like 1934. almost
suggests that weather and our economic
      cycle is in-sync.

            hedgehog,

We have relatives in Southern MN and in 1934-36 it was so dry/hot the soil temps got up to 140-60 deg F and cooked many of the microbes in the soil. It took 2 years to rebuild the soil to where it could properly grow healthy crops again.

We would assume with reduced tillage that this will be less of a problem in 2012... the increased plant residue on the soil surface tends to reduce peak soil temps during the afternoon.

              Furrow,

This Ag Canada Site has interesting recent information:

              http://www4.agr.gc.ca/DW-GS/historical-historiques.jspx?lang=eng&jsEnabled=true

              Cheers!

Has anyone had to spray their canola for bugs twice?
We already sprayed once for seedpod weevil at the
                beginning of the month.

I am told that Oungre, Radville, Pangman so dry,
no rain for more than a month. Heat is
                  decimmating the crop.
