    tillage radish as cover crop

For the saturated soils could I blow
radish on top to grow out some
moisture and break hardpan on the 20%
of each field couldn't seed? Will it
    germinate on the surface?
    I'm thinking of trying after
    spraying.

    wet ground.

They seed a lot in the US by flying it on just prior to
corn harvest so it can't be too hard to establish. No
rush to seed it - recommended time is 3-10 weeks
before killing frost. Maybe July 1st would be early
enough? I have a friend in Michigan who uses it and
sells seed - he reckons the claims for it breaking up
      hard pan are overstated.

Kevin Elmy at Friendly Acres Seed Farm is a distributer for Tillage Radish in Saskatchewan. I believe he planted the, near the end of July. If you contact hime he will have more information for you.

$3.45/pound. 6 to 10 pounds/acre in a pure stand. If in crop or a mixture, 1 to 3. Do not seed before July 1st unless you are grazing it. Conversely, needs to be seeded about 6 weeks before a killing frost.
