    AB Wildrose; Promise number One:

"It’s time that government got serious about controlling spending growth and saving for the future. That’s why today, we unveiled the first of our new ideas that put Albertans first: the Wildrose Balanced Budget and Savings Act.

Here are some highlights from the Balanced Budget and Savings Act. A Wildrose government will:
•Balance our budget by limiting spending increases to no more than population growth plus inflation.
•Preserve funding for front-line workers like nurses, teachers and social workers, while cutting billions in wasteful spending like carbon capture and storage, new MLA offices and PC Cabinet salary increases.
•Prohibit government from running deficits or spending the interest earned in our children's Heritage Savings Trust Fund.
•Decrease our children's reliance on future oil and gas revenues by saving half of provincial surpluses to grow the Heritage Fund to $200 billion in 20 years.

We encourage you to read the Balanced Budget and Savings Act release by visiting wildrose.ca/pledge

Together, we can show the PC’s that Albertans want to be put first. Thank you for your continued support!

    Sincerely,

    Team Wildrose"

    Cheers!

      Burbert,

Looks like PC Alison REDford thinks Wildrose is serious... fearmongering was the order of Alison's day... saying the sky was going to fall... if Wildrose was elected!

DO you think the 'sky will fall' if Danielle Smith is elected instead of RED-ford?

Did I hear, "Live within our means?"

          Huh?

How the hell could we get Ottawa to repeat those
          words?

          (a) Gun to the head
          (b) Refuse to send Ontario transfer payment
          (c) Threaten to elect Svend Robinson
          (d) Send Danielle to Ottawa in the original bus.

            Pars,

I had to laugh... to think that living within our means... and having a balanced budget... are now novel 'new' ideas... more ...that Alison and her REDford team are against Danielle doing this!!!

Good thing we didn't have an election right after the REDford election last fall!

For me this is pretty straight and simple. One party
rule for 41 years has created a mindset within the
PC's that not only are they wrong headed - they
don't want to know that they're wrongheaded. So
vote strategically for the option best positioned to
change the status-quo. It doesn't matter their
platform or philosophy. Rod Love, the most
successful mover and shaker in Alberta politics,
wrote an excellent piece in the Herald a couple of
months ago. Basically political parties in Alberta
don't shape the Province, Albertan's shape the
political parties. Proof is in how the Wildrose has
migrated more centre compared to where they were
2 years ago. On the fiscally responsible issue, name
one Conservative govt in the last 20 yrs that ran a
balanced budget and don't say Ralph Klein. He was
saved by the unprecedented value of natural gas
and the royalties within. But his across the board
cost cutting did little more than create the
infrastructure deficit and the wreck in health care.
In the end, he became another reckless dote
engineering a bacchanalian orgy of largesse and
spending that pissed away millions we could have
stored away for future generations. Pity, the
politician I most admire is Raj Sherman, completely
there because of personal principle. But, this is
              Alberta.

I'm getting a chuckle outta driving round Calgary today. The only thing missing from the PC color signs is Jack Layton's name ...

This election will be interesting to say the least... those colors put the red in REDford. WTF were they thinking?

I'd take the bus-ta-breast anyday before that.

May we live in interesting times.

Holy crap Weber, you're right! I just saw the news
and they're all running around in orange jackets.
What happened to Tory blue? Keeping in mind
though that it was Lougheed who first gave us the
blue and orange colours. Here's one for you. Our
local PC incumbent sat on the 'money for nothing'
committee. He has a dilemma. What to do with the
money. So, he hand picked a committee to decide
for him. There are 3 members - his biggest rah, rah
booster, the husband of the constituency
association president and his biggest single
financial contributor. And there are 3 options - 1.
pay it back, 2. give it to charity, and 3. let him keep
it. He promises to abide by their decision! Should
find out sometime after the election. Unbelievable!!!
