You are being a rascal, cott. It was overspending
that got Iceland in the red in the first place.
How many farmers overspend? Be honest. How
many of you have an unhealthy operating loan if
interest rates go ^, and a kid who drives to school
in a car they havent helped pay for........c'mon.
Own up.
The only defense I have for Iceland is that Vikings
are genetically programmed to raid and pillage
and stel what they desire, so they'll have to enroll
in budget management courses. Pars
The average tax payer of iceland isn't on the hook for
others mal investment.
Tough not to have some debt when
farming, especially tough if you don't have a rich
daddy helping you out.And most the time its mother
nature who wipes famers out.
Some farm kids who drive nice vehicles, have to run
home and hop on a combine or drill or pull a calf
while there city buddies get play football and chase
girls.
I just finished my income tax for 2011. I am embarassed at how much money I go through and how little money I keepat the end. I am aware I am building some net worth, but geez, I spend like a drunk farmer at an auction sale!
Is there a website that can compare income benchmarks? I am thinking a 1500 acre farmer vs. labourer in Ft. Mac vs. Truck driver vs. McDonalds mid range employee? Or, the facts are so variable and subjective that its nearly impossible to compare?
Cash ent in this area is well over $60.00/acre, and it "sounds" like some really good paying jobs out there..away from home and family for some days. Farmer in me wants to stay farmer, but math inside me says make lots and lots of money!
