Who Wins with Merger and Buyout!

    1. Richardsons go from #3 to #1 Smooth!
    2. Agrium I just dont like them but they
win big time, Australia farmers I think
    loose!
    3. Mayo $35 to $37 Mill not a bad pay
day for a Dead company. Farmers who
owned it years ago really got it in the
    back side.
    Loosers.
    1. Farmers,
    2. Glencore
    3. Cargill for not being in the game.
    Whats up!

This is how I see it how about any one
    else.

Mayo was asked on BNN if there were offers, he said no. Investors would assume he wouldn't lie about something that was in fact going on at the time and had been going on for some months as explained in the conference yesterday.

Besides why take the first offer? Why not see how the company does in a post cwb world, maybe the value of Viterra would have been 30 bucks a share by next year.

AIMCO was right, Viterra needed new management, but didn't need to sell the company to get it.

The irony of all this is those that yelled about the consolidation in the grain industry that occurred with the SWP/Agricore United merger, are now whipping Viterra for being knocked down in size and JRI for getting bigger. We all seem to agree on the negative side of Agrium's involvement.

Agrium has worked its self into a very strong position, not good for us!!! The only defence is to patronize any one you can get to with a different supplier and perhaps buy a good chunk of Agrium shares.

I feel disappointed in Mayo, he had to be in on the deal and essentially he give himself the early retirement he wanted with 3 extra years of pay for not working, its the best ever thing that could happen to him. Most of the employees are in the same boat as us farmers, lost most of the value of our older SWP shares employees losing a share of their retirement I guess considered lost many years ago. Does this takeover not have to be put to shareholders first?

Good call pgluca. I was seriously considering selling my Agrium shares because they have recently risen back into the high eighties. Well, now I think I will hold on to them and attempt to make back some of the money, I and my neighbours, will be directing their way in the years to come.

Hopperbin, shareholder vote will be held in May.
Aimco, largest single shareholder, has given their
blessings. I highly doubt the majority of
shareholders will balk at taking the reward of a
sudden 50% increase in their investments.
As for Agrium, it has been their stated goal to
become the largest input retailer in western Canada
for quite some time so this deal just expedites
matters. Even at that, compared to their US
holdings, overall sales here are just a drop in the
bucket. At least they are a Canadian company with
head office in Calgary. It is what it is - the brave
                new world.
