History will show us if HRS is now trading at support or resistance, but I did 5 bu. Oct/Nov anyway- couldn't bear to wait and see price fall. Did token amt of canola @ 11.56 for Sept. Bin space also a problem. Malt prices tick me off. $5.06 with Act of God is best so far. Malt people telling me they aren't prepared to go much higher for the year!? So nothing there yet but would like 20 bu. done before seeding.
Ronski, don't worry about what BTO & Burbert are really trying to say. We all gave up ages ago.

If you don't want to commit physical canola for fall and leave your upside wide open . . .

Nov canola 520 puts traded for $15.50 this morning.

      Strike price $520 - $15.50 premium = $504.50/MT ($11.44/bu) less fall delivered basis.

        Thanks ronski

Looks like canola is pushing through some resistance today, if it closes in green its a good day.

13 bucks in beans is a CRUCIAL line.

Tomorrow or later today we crash and then take a run
            at it again imo.

Sold most of next years barley production with "Act of God" for what will work out to about $5.65/ bushel at my farm.

This is the same U.S. maltster who's current price is less than last year, but then again the price is down from the time I made the contract last year. Not as much as the market dropped from that time, but there is no middleman taking their cut anymore either.

Canadian Maltsters may take a year or two to realize they don't have the limitless supply of cheap barley anymore, no matter how they treat the farmers who supply them. I've heard there are already improvements happening, but they've still lost me for 2012.

What specs do you have to meet Ranger?
I would be temped to switch all my soft wheat acres to barley if I can get that price, I suppose my transport will be higher than yours. If the specs are only protien and germ and plumpness, then sounds like a good contract.
