    Wheat basis

Is historically wide here at the moment, rally of
the last 2 weeks has only added about $3 per
tonne but our dollar has gained 3 cents in a week
which is making it tough going for exporters and
once it became apparent there was a lot of high
protien wheat the heat came off.
All pool operators have eased the esr as well for
high protien wheats but strangely lesser grades
are holding up which competes with black sea
and European wheats into se Asia.
    Which countries are predominately canadian
wheat "turf" se Asia middle east and Japan and
remain bread and butter markets for us yors are
    what north Africa?

My dad had plenty of Canadian prisoner of war
friends here over the years and they claim the
best wheat in the world is from peace river and is
direct competition to Aussie wheat, perfect
growing conditions they reckon and ps they came
from llydminister Cochin and strasbourg and 100
mile house all of which are not of course peace
river so it must have some inherent qualities

Burbert may be correct on that the peace is not the most environmentally best place to farm. perhaps mallee that was a one year deal as the peace weather is typically totally different than the rest of Canada, maybe some years they can produce the best wheat. I would think not often. Maybe years ago they did not need to use any fertilizer as we did not use fert years ago also as your ancestors did not. I am guessing this is how it came about.

so hopper or who ever what did the cwb used to say were your target markets, seems at times it doesnt matter were you guys sell wheat your always at frieght disadvantage by land and blue water but maybe not enlighten me.
I guess i always understood rightly or wrongly your durum wheat is best in the world as well, along with some northern usa states,it seems though you may not have always been paid fair value

On our farm in the peace we have grown 1cwrs
and prem cwrw four of the last five years. When it
was not the top grade we never graded feed.
This past year with carryover soil nutrition from
three years of relatively dry growing conditions
many areas had not only top grades bu wheat
yields that averaged 80 to 100 bu acre.

I know that our oats (plumpness and color) and
canola oil content have some regional benefits but
not sure on wheat and never heard that
                  suggestion before.

                  FYI
