    Canola Varieties

What is everyone growing for canola this year? I have been having other producers tell me that their Nexera was yeilding close to what Invigors did plus there is $1.80/bushel premium.I have also heard Brett Young 6060 and Canterra 1990 are yielding close to Invigors as well in some areas. I grew Invigor L150 and L130 and was happy with results.Invigor Hybrids have performed quite well over all other varieties long term and I am very hesitant to switch to anything else until I see how the variety performs on a field scale.

    JD3,

I will say Nexera has come a very long way... ESPECIALLY in green seed quality improvements.

Clubroot resistance will truly make them competitive in Alberta.

Were seeding a few 150 quarters and a few roundup (pioneer) then the rest is 5440 since it kicked 150s ass.
The specialty oils need to have a 5 buck a bushel premium to be competitive. OR Free seed. Otherwise not worth opening the bag.

Going with 130 on most of it will do 200 of 120. Did 5440, 130 and 150 last year. Comparitively the 150 was a bust. 5440 seed hard to get here. I can't believe Bayer is dumping that varitiety. RR doesn't fit into the rotation until next year.

When is Bayer going to come out with a real herbicide? BASF has all kinds of choices with clearfield, and round-up just simply works but the TUA b/s keeps going up. All top varieties yeild very close now.
