The old CWB is gone. I want new people with new ideas on a new CWB, and we deserve a voice.

Ummm, the idea of an open market is to use your grain to speak with.

It's not about exerting control over your neighbors grain anymore.

If the "new" wheat board offers competitive prices then selling them your grain tells them you approve of what they are doing.

Perhaps you are suggesting that the buildings, ships, and assets actually belong to farmers? That is true and maybe we should be issued shares in the company? Dividends? Tax breaks? Discounted freight rates? Stress payments for the last year of stupidity?

Silverback... The options you mention could easily
be attained via shareholdings, or a closed co-op.

I believe the key is choice, and competition is
              imperative.

IMHO being averaged should be optional. If farmers
are comfortable in pools then fine.

We have different cost structures, different cash
              requirements, different priorities and different
              goals. I like differentiation.

              Managing requires production options, marketing
              options, family considerations, health
              considerations and personal preferences.

Having our sales forcibly averaged, and also without
              transparency, doesn't resonate with me.

Nor do I believe being average is adequate.

              Cheers... Bill

                hlg,

In time there will be a change in both governence and ownership structure.

The CWB ran with little problem under the 'single desk' system for many years with appointed 'directors'.

I really do NOT agree that Goodale did grain growers any favour by setting up an acromonius never ending debate and leadership problem... that the old CWB was.

Our CWB statutes both old and new clearly state the assets of the COrporation belong to the government... NOT to Grain Growers.

Until that changes... the government is correct and rational to control and manage the leadership of this marketing organisation.

                He who pays the piper...
                calls the tune...
and C18 clearly shows that to be the CWB Minister and Finance Minister of the Government of Canada.

Do we really need farmer directors? Recent history showed that wasn't turning out so well. Ideology trumped good business sense.

I'd rather the new entity was run by people who with the know how to help it compete and survive. If some of those people happen to be a farmers, great.

Are you outbidding the rich farmers in that area? Land never is listed N of Humboldt, local buyers with deep pockets my guess.
Lot more wheat going in now. Watch malt prices due to acres battle.
