"The legislation to end the Canadian Wheat Board's single desk has now passed both the House of Commons and the Senate.

Senators voted 51-33 in favour Bill C-18 late Thursday afternoon, despite the outstanding legal challenge surrounding the bill.

The bill now goes to the Governor General for Royal Assent.

The Canadian Wheat Board is filing an application for an injunction to prevent the legislation from coming into force until the court has decided on the validity of the bill.

Last week, a federal court judge ruled that federal Agriculture Minister Gerry Ritz breached the CWB Act by introducing the legislation without consulting producers.

OTTAWA (Reuters) - Canada's governor general gave royal assent on
Thursday to a bill stripping the Canadian Wheat Board of its grain monopoly,
making the bill law.

The Wheat Board will lose its monopoly over western wheat and barley for
milling or export next August, however, the board is challenging the law in
court.

Farmranger, try logging out of your facebook account and then go look at that page. Its kinda like the matrix, its whatever your beliefs are and the steamroller staff know it, put you in a different group and mostly that group posts appear. Visit it anonymously and there is only pro CWB posts.
