Ok this explains it, it is a bond so must pay interest. So why cannot we find on the companies website what they are paying in interest on this bond? Something an investor might want to know, remember what happenned to Sask.Wheat Pool when they were dealing with paying 15 percent to the bond holders?

Allis this posted topic may get burried, if you still get the chance, I have my biggest question yet is what type of dividend do they pay, elligible or non elligible, and what effect the dividend has on the net earning number is it considered an expense and subtracted or is it still considered profit, like the dividends I pay myself are still considered as profit on my farm corp and taxed at the corporate rate the farm pays the tax.
This dividend thing has always been confusing to me, guess I could get an accountant to explain also. I just know the dividend should have some affect on the earnings number depending on type of dividend.

Sorry Hopper didn't see your post before i talked to.
Steve at Ag Growth. The questions about dividends
probably best left to an accountant I think.

The story on the DB is yes it is a debenture that is
traded al though he was very surprised that it was
listed on the VN side of the TSE. He always thought
they were traded just like the common shares were.

The current series of debentures mature in 2014
and have a 7% coupon. They are sold on the
strength and reputation of the company the way i
understood it and after purchase do not trade very
              much.

This company has made many large acquisitions
for their size in the last 2 or 3 years and have
expanded rapidly so this makes it interesting. The
risk of the whole company being as small as it is
would not be for me but then what isn't shaky these
days.Besides i am afraid i might be getting a little
              paranoid too.

If you go to their website or Sedar he said you go
to the financial statement and go to the page under
MBNA and their is an explanation of convertible
              debentures.
Hope that helps if you find out more please post.
To everyone else this is what i meant a long while
back about sharing stuff on here about trading
              stocks and the market.

Thanks Allis, nice to talk to you.. My eyes are wide open if you mention trading stocks. Large aqusitions is correct and paying a dividend on top is what got my attention. The dividends were steadily increasing until the share price drop this year, so this corp is faced with should we hold the div. or drop it? As a farmer I feel they should be able to hold and grow. What really happens is well ah.
