    Why spoil the Ballot?

If you were an elected mp and you rec'd a CWB plebicite ballot would you spoil it and send it in? And then brag about it?

This from an original Reform candidate whose policy was to have referendums on every issue going

I lost what little respect I did have for this mp when I heard this

I often wondered why farmers would spoil their ballot. I think the reasoning behind it is if your an elected mp everyone gets the chance to vote, in the cwb plebicite or what ever you wish to call it not all farmers were chosen to vote or be included. So such as that is the point. Why have a vote when you do not include everyone.

      Mustardman,

This was a contrived and calculated process to make the single desk win both wheat AND BARLEY.

My bet is... Had Chairman Oberg been true to the CWB Act... Obeyed it... and sent out 68,000 ballots on barley and durum... they would have lost on both of them. Hands down.

All 'producers' as defined in the CWB Act... have the ability to grow wheat, durum and barley. Therefore everyone... all 68000... should have voted on the future of all 3 crops the CWB handles. If this plebicite were actually to mean anything!

The MP did the right thing. Participating in the
vote would only have lent credibility to an
illegitimate process. Although he could have sent
his ballot to Minister Ritz, and accomplished the
        same thing.
You get a nice reply letter when you do that.

I sent my ballot to Mr. Ritz with a note asking him to please continue with the plan. I am still waiting for my nice reply letter.

Better to spoil the "ballot" than participate in a highly offensive, sham of a vote.

Why hold an election or pleb at all? It
seems reasonable that a few loud mouths,
              bullies, or otherwise creepy types
SHOULD BE ALLOWED to run the nation.
Why? Cousin they know all and what is
best fer us's even when we don't. Yup
everyone a us shoulda spoiled our
ballots, that wooda taught the cwb a
lesson. Then we coulda shouted them
down, in the name of FREEDOM. Yup wes
open fer business. Ta heck wit
democracy, after all the Gadaffi's a the
              world need a home two!

I don't consider "spoiling" a ballot means it is not noticed. Often, its quite to the contrary.
The "person" and government who will make the decision; received my ballot directly; and I expect that they took more notice of my "spoiled" ballot than any one sent to the CWB.
Further; anyone who doesn't recognize that if any grain producer deserves a vote on the monopoly market; then every grain producer surely deserves that same vote.
The more one thinks about the vote process, the more one should be sickened by the way the CWB continues to do business and running my business without any say.
