    CWES, CWRS, and CERS

    To the CWB.

I note that the CEES (Extra Strong) wheat class was removed a number of years ago incorperating it into the CERS class, as the CGC said there was no need to have seperate classes!

Now that Ontario has the same grade for both classes, why does the CWB discount CWES $34.00/t totally destroying extra strong production in western CANADA?

I'm not familiar with the differences of the Eastern registered varieties, how they were used or what markets they were going to, so can't comment there.

Regarding the spread on CWES, a limited amount of this product is going to the US now, and the balance is going to other markets. The $34/t spread is a market signal. And blending to 'mask' this problem changes the quality profile of CWRS, which is a more flexible quality product that customers are familiar with.

      thalpenny,

It is sad that the CWB is the sole decision maker on what I can afford to grow, no matter what milling customers may want or need!

If the CWB cannot market CPS and CWES efficiently, at a fair and reasonable price, why not let farmers develop the market themselves, without your "help"?

Why not let us be responsible for our own destiny, especially when you have given up on getting a fair and reasonable price for our wheat?
