THis section 8 has small farmers, Upset Alberta Barley Grower that did not get a ballot from CWB... Attack on CWB District 2 Director Jeff Neilsen, his response, Organic marketing problems...

When the CWB started it was brought in by a democratically elected body and will be ended by the same democratically elected body. Funny how sometimes our parliament is good as an example of democracy but when they are doing something we don't like they are dictators and we need to rule by plebiscite.

For those that think farmers voted to establish the CWB:

The following is from the first page of the first CWB Annual Report....


Report of the Canadian Wheat Board

Minister of Trade and Commerce,
Ottawa, Canada,

With the appointment of Mr. John I. McFarland, Chief Commissioner, Mr. D.L. Smith, Assistance Chief Commissioner and Dr. H.C. Grant, Commissioner, which was announced August 14th, 1935, The Canadian Wheat Board commenced operations.

Also, regarding the single desk, the 1943-44 CWB Annual Report said:

"In the field of domestic wheat policy, the suspension of trading on the Winnipeg Wheat futures market, and the establishing of a new fixed initial price at the close of business on September 27th, 1943 were the outstanding developments of the crop year. <b>This decision on the part of the Dominion Government resulted in the Board's receiving all wheat marketed by producers after September 27th, 1943.</b>

No farmer vote to establish the board in 1935 and no farmer vote to establish the single desk.

So no farmer vote needed to abolish the single desk.

Per,

ONLY if the government wants to add or subtract a grain from the present CWB Act.. is a vote... authorised and approved by the Minister of the CWB... required by Section 47.1 of the CWB Act.

Minister Ritz has said the will recind the whole CWB Act... which would then nulify the need to meet any preconditions Goodale inserted in the CWB Act 1998 (47.1)that were to prevent changes to the CWB without a grower vote.
