Get ready for a closed border once the CWB is gone. Americans are already getting concerned about Canadian trucks lining up at US elevators to take advantage of market opportunities that exist in the US supply chain. They consume a much larger share of both wheat and durum domestically. Canadian farmers have to export a much higher proportion. Higher domestic consumption levels in the US pay better because of transportation savings over export markets. 30 million vs 300 million consumers.

You will need to be registered with the FDA as an importer. Because you might be a terrorist. Trying to find a Canadian truck who will cross the border under all the new rules is always fun. US border guards don't seem to have much he haw in them these days.

Chuckchuck, ever heard the term "arbitrage". What makes you believe that the price wont be the same on both sides of the border once the cwb shackles are removed. Those bids will come to us, not the other way around. Don't believe me? Take a look at canola, peas, lentils, oats, flax, etc. The list goes on and on. In a few years time, it is my guess that you will see American grain moving north through the Canadian system because of better handling efficiencies. Kind of like we do right now with Canola, peas, lentils and chickpeas coming up from North Dakota.

              Really.

I suspect you don't cross the border very often to make the observation about the friendliness of US border guards. This is the same propaganda "store high in transit" spread by your kind that Minot blames Canadians for flooding their city, and oh, scary!, you'll get your tires slashed in their parking lots.

Who says that Canadian trucks will be needed to deliver Canadian grain to a US elevator? I fully expect that the world price will be the world price at every Canadian located delivery point come August 2012.

Oh look!, your shadow is gaining on you.

Yeah, it will be the world price minus a hefty cut for your friendly neighborhood Multi. That will be real arbitrage.

Which will be a lot better than the CWB taking its cut, after the multi's take theirs.

Rah rah, yea no shit the CWB takes their cut
then cut for screw ups, then cut for bonuses even
if they are the ones that screwed up. Minus the
grain companies, pennies to the farmer, just
                    priceless.
