Awful attempt at a low blow. An unsuccessful run at poloitics can be looked at in at least two ways. The electorate may have done you a great favour in allowing time to pursue other more personally productive agendas. Alternatively, an unsuccessful candidate may take solice in the fact that the majority seldom wants to support someone who likely is more intelligent and thoughtful than the majority.
Of course there are a whole list of other common ways to console oneself; including not dwelling on what others may look at as someone else's "setbacks".
