    Rats abandoning sinking ship??

It's been suggested that CWB staff are nervous (or worse) about their job security. If I were in their place and my boss said the CWB organization can't survive; then I'd certainly have a contingency plan; or at least not be the last person left looking for another job.
Ordinarily I'd have a lot more sympathy.

Do you think they will stop for half a second and wonder how many farm kids have been told over the years that there just is not a great future in farming?

That they should find a different career because even though your american cousins get more for their wheat, we have to take what the liberals and the cwb say we can have for it? If only we could change the government someday son.

    Probably not.

The head hunters were called the same day that Oberg said the cwb can't survive without the single desk.

The pink slips might as well go out now.

The civil service will absorb most of the
employees. Some will retire. Some will take
education packages. Some will join the grain
        market.

        Life will go on.

Wakopa, being an ex-farmer doesn't mean you
can't do the best job serving farmers. Many
programs hire these people deliberately because
these people know about the people they serve.

That experience is valuable in many occupations,
whether it be sales, agrology, or bureaucracy.

Many of the ex-farmers or part-time farmers are
not failures! Some can probably run a business
              better than you.

Just for the record, Wakopa runs his business very well. Also tunes up some pretty cool classic cars and trucks.
