Going to be the date that changed growing wheat and barley in western Canada. More wheat grown, prarie pasta plants, flour mills sprouting up all over, trucking jobs increasing, all good thing to come. Thank You Mr Harper.

I like the idea of a big farm community party.

There aren't any halls big enough around here to host the size of crowd that will show up!

              Your right Silver!
Rail lines gone, elevators gone, Hosp closed, schools down sizing or closed, local dealerships moved to city, stores closed, bars closed, garages closed the list goes on. Few community events anymore so need for community halls anymore.

Maybe buses will charter to city.

A bloated inefficient bureaucracy sucking profitability out of an industry will do that.

That the Wheat Board lasted this long is an unfortunate testament to the power of collectivist mythology in our culture. After nearly three quarters of a century of pointless sacrifice by Western Canadian farmers who saw their grains sold at bargain prices to Britain, the Soviet Union and countless other buyers, who saw processing opportunities flee to other nations, the years and years of shame can now thankfully come to an end.

Has anyone thought about what should be included in a the new CWB act? Business structure and governace of a new CWB? New generation cooperative? Capital requirements? Ability to own assets? Other investments (including inputs and value added processing)? Strategic partnerships or stand alone organization?

BreadWinner: You're dreaming in technicolor if you think that the change will be so dramatic. Business doesn't locate unless there is a market. Locating processing industries involves more than just who buys your grain.

Liberty: You are quite the "drama queen"..."the shame" in having the CWB...come on...that is bovine droppings and you know it.

Good questions Charlie. However Your too late doesn't mater what we farmers want.

Heard on the radio this AM that MR Ritz is already in consultation with the industry IE: Cargils of the world and the railroads to see how they want it to transcribe.

Just like the CROW and the last time the CWB Act was opened farmers are just a supplier to the industry and they won't have a say.

You will take what they offer to you and you will like it. That is how the NEW system will work.

Any objections...NO...Good, business as usual. Keep growing the stuff...they will buy (take it) from you and pay a reasonable price...you bet.
