    Morton ROASTED in ECKVILLE

    Calling Grassfarmer....

    Were you in Eckville last Night?

    Good PUNCH line when Morton claimed his legislation WOULD NOT be used to Cancel Leases...

    Wilson shot back:

    You just cancelled all those private leases on that 2 million hectare 'reserve' in the oil sands.

    The PC Leaders and Ministers must all take special 'crazy pills' each morning... when they wake up!

    Morton and Iggy must be related!

    Sorry Iggy...

    So let me get this straight-
    Conservative party in Alberta - bad
    Conservative party in Ottawa - good?

    Am I hearing you right Tom?

      Morton is in the Progressive Party of Alberta.

      Ralph Klein was a classic 'Liberal'... however he respected property rights carefully.

      Labels do not work well in politics...

      IN CANADA.

      If you take the principals of the Conservitive Party of Canada... you will find we have ALL of the Classic Liberal requirements covered:

      "The Conservative Party will be guided in its constitutional framework and its policy basis by the following principles:

      A balance between fiscal accountability, progressive social policy and individual rights and responsibilities;

      Build a national coalition of people who share these beliefs and who reflect the regional, cultural and socio-economic diversity of Canada;

      Develop this coalition, embracing our differences and respecting our traditions, yet honoring a concept of Canada as the greater sum of strong parts;

      The Conservative Party will operate in a manner accountable and responsive to its members;

      A belief in loyalty to a sovereign and united Canada governed in accordance with the Constitution of Canada, the supremacy of democratic parliamentary institutions and the rule of law;
      A belief in the equality of all Canadians;

      A belief in the freedom of the individual, including freedom of speech, worship and assembly;

      A belief in our constitutional monarchy, the institutions of Parliament and the democratic process;

      A belief in the federal system of government as the best expression of the diversity of our country, and in the desirability of strong provincial and territorial governments;

      A belief that English and French have equality of status, and equal rights and privileges as to their use in all institutions of the Parliament and Government of Canada;

      A belief that the best guarantors of the prosperity and well-being of the people of Canada are:

      The freedom of individual Canadians to pursue their enlightened and legitimate self-interest within a competitive economy;
      The freedom of individual Canadians to enjoy the fruits of their labour to the greatest possible extent; and
      The right to own property;
      A belief that a responsible government must be fiscally prudent and should be limited to those responsibilities which cannot be discharged reasonably by the individual or others;
      A belief that it is the responsibility of individuals to provide for themselves, their families and their dependents, while recognizing that government must respond to those who require assistance and compassion;
      A belief that the purpose of Canada as a nation state and its government, guided by reflective and prudent leadership, is to create a climate wherein individual initiative is rewarded, excellence is pursued, security and privacy of the individual is provided and prosperity is guaranteed by a free competitive market economy;
      A belief that the quality of the environment is a vital part of our heritage to be protected by each generation for the next;
      A belief that Canada should accept its obligations among the nations of the world;
      A belief that good and responsible government is attentive to the people it represents and has representatives who at all times conduct themselves in an ethical manner and display integrity, honesty and concern for the best interest of all;
      A belief that all Canadians should have reasonable access to quality health care regardless of their ability to pay; and
      A belief that the greatest potential for achieving social and economic objectives is under a global trading regime that is free and fair."

      Obviously ideals that are hard to keep... at all times... yet they are very strong principals that any Canadian can be proud of!

        Yes, TOM I was there last night, good entertainment!
        Mustardman TOM seems to suffer confusion issues - "good" Conservatives and "bad" Conservatives and it wasn't long ago on this site he was extolling the virtues of the now infamous Bills.

          Grassfarmer,

          It was PC Alberta that changed... not me or my family.

          I spoke critically behind closed doors... to both MLA's Doug and Minister Ted. PST is another 'bone to pick' with these 'Liberal socialists' (PC Alberta) that will reappear as a major issue.

          They chose to push this liberal socialist agenda... not me.

          Federally:

          PM Harper is NOT PERFECT. NO ONE IS.

          SO...

          We must work through the many choices given in our lives...

          WE ARE FREE AGENTS. RESPONSIBLE for our Decisions.

            TOM says "I spoke critically behind closed doors"
            Go back and dig up the very first discussion we had on the topic of these bills to refresh your memory TOM - you were arguing with me that everything was OK, you had been involved in the stakeholder consultations and we had to just wait for the Bill your friend Morton was coming through with and all would be right with the world.
            You did change sides TOM - once the error of your ways was pointed out.

              Grassfarmer,

              OK I bought the line the PC Alberta Ministers were going to respect our property rights... and was waiting.

              Obviously I gave up waiting... they changed as I said... and are using regulations imposed upon us instead of rational market forces to determine future economic activity in Alberta.

              Is there really any difference between our positions Grassfarmer?

              OK... I am a sucker and shouldn't have believed their promises. King Ralph promised we would NEVER get back into determining business winners and losers... the PC Ministers changed this... NOT I. I am GUILTY as CHARGED for trusting them their word.

                I respect a guy that as he realizes he is being lied to changes his mind. It was a bit like fishing a stocked pond with dynamite last night. I have to wonder why a guy with a Doctorate in Political Science agreed to participating especially in a format where the adversary got to speak and then rebut last. Minister Dave Hancock QC took a bit of a beating as well.

                  Tom, does that mean you're moving your allegiance to
                  the Wild Rose Alliance?

                    TOM, I don't think there is a difference between our positions on this issue now since you switched sides. Now if I could just make you see sense on the CWB issue LOL!
