    Conservative Platform - The CWB

What do you suppose this means? Does it mean a CPC majority government will, on an individidual and farm by farm basis, give us marketing choice?

Below is from the CPC platform, page 59.

    CANADIAN WHEAT BOARD
We will continue to work with Western Canadian grain farmers to
ensure that the results of the barley plebiscite are respected and
that they are given the freedom to choose whether to sell grain on
the open market or through the Canadian Wheat Board.

I see that the Liberals didn't even mention the CWB in their platform.

I hope that they are keeping a low profile on this, and if they win a majority.......then poof the CWB will become voluntary for farmers to be in or out.

Nothing will happen with the cwb. I was at Anderson's campaign office and they are worried about the eastern votes more than my vote.

I was telling the lady that they take my vote for granted and she went on to say how they are trying to do something, blah, blah blah.

I responded by saying if they forced the cwb across canada it would end immediately. I don't think she understood.

All I got out of the conversation was that, IMO, they are still taking western canadian votes for granted and really have no intention of changing anything.

There are plenty of stategies to get rid of the cwb and none have been tried.

Well, if they get a majority(and that still looks like a big if) then they are going to be all out of excuses.

I took the liberty to look at 2008 election results. There are at least 20 seats that were close enough for the cons to simply get 1000 more votes and win. I think a majority is coming. I predict 3 in Quebec, 3 in maritimes, 6 in Ontario, 1 in alberta, 4 in BC, 1 maybe 2 in the far north. A total of 18-19 more seats, less a few they may lose in close ridings, leaving 16-17 gain for the cons. A total of 159-160. Maybe more, but enough cushion 4-5, to get the majority. Canadians are very pissed, even on the cbc website, the comments are quite balanced, and I have never seen this before.

This is not counting seats that may swing simply due to pissed of masses of Canadians. I have a feeling Canadians wil be quite surprised at the results....

We will soon be free of the CWB!

They will make the CWB volentary after a majority. They wont come out and say that because how would it benifit them in an election. They would loose votes from both sides. Willagro proves my theory because he thinks the Ritz has seen the light and Fran thinks they will eliminate it. Win win for Conservatives.

Strange, I got the impression that Francisco was
                  anything but anti-market freedom.

Here's hoping that there will be ever increasing
light shed on the plight of the western Canadian
                  wheat and barley farmer.
                  FREEDOM!!!
