    The
"TalkingEskimo" Intangeble benefits of the CWB 'single desk'.

Where the lowest price is the law....

Except if you are a 'designated area' grain grower needing to buy your own families grain back from the CWB.

Remember for ONLY an extra $115/t plus freight to your local elevator in the US... You can escape from the CWB pools... IF you have enough Quota to deliver the durum!!!:

    CWB Annual Report: Page 35

    "Producer Direct Sale (PDS)
Farmers have the ability to sell
    directly to buyers through the
PdS program in order to take
    advantage of niche- and premiummarket
    opportunities. This program
    ensures that all western canadian
farmers retain the benefi ts of
    single-desk selling while program
    participants pursue additional
    marketing opportunities."

These would seem to be good questions for the farmers forums.

Montana durum prices (1 durum 13 protein - elevator) are abourt $9/bu or about $330/tonne. Local price. Fits with the PDS value.

Farmers don't deliver because the old crop PRO is low but buyers are offering high prices/the CWB can't participate in these sales because of lack of farmer contracting/delivery commitment.

Strangely, durum moving south is not restricted by congestion at Canadian ports. If anything, takes pressure off the ports.

With a new deal on durum via the gdc the cwb offered, I am guessing they are short durum.

If they got the price closer to 7.50, I think the cwb could fill those boats.

          Bucket,

So the CWB is ripping off Durum growers... $100/t... AGAIN.

CWB "single desk' monopoly at work...

The only true power it (the CWB 'single desk') has... is over 'designated area' grain growers... to confiscate grain while buying ships and paying consultants and computer developers over $130 million to take our hard earned cash/durum from us!
