    change

We had a lisencing system for barley for 2 yrs it wasnt perfect. But pollies could see the sky didnt fall in cracks started to appear with avid single/desk poolers selling for cash then the floodgates started to open and now full deregulation.
You may have to go with a not perfect system for a few years to achieve your ultimate marketing goal.
If you dig in and say it wont work you will stuck with no change.

    Mallee,

Change is always hard. NO doubt.

Old habits die hard... especially when they have historic baggage and myths attached!

That the CWB management is moving the corporation in a new direction... offers opportunity to change.

Each discussion... prepares our communities... even if like the CROW (Railroad) change... we lost 10 years... and $$$billions as grain growers.

I would say NOBODY in australia is worse off because the single desk is gone but then its hard to quantify the benifits on the flip side but growers have CHOICE and that what our debate was here.
Even the awb admit now, the single desk was a impediment and life is easier without it, funny all the head traders for years at awb now work for the cargills dreyfuss glencore etc etc some glencore traders are at awb etc etc. Pools still run but most farmers think ppols are for swimming, and most farmers run there own pools ie hold grain back for later sale when the price suits them.

Did cwb ever run a propaganda campaign how aussie farmers are ruined or the likes since awbs demise?
