Min wheat up .16 cents last night.

OK so all the hype from the production show in Saskatoon is over.
reality sets in for most of us. HRS wheat is going up and up and up but in Canada land of the slogan the lowest price is the law were given peanuts for our hard work.
Their should be a increase in the initial price and a big one already half way through the crop year why not.
Simply our great marketing agencies blew it again.

If you are basically satisfied with recovering costs of production; over the long term; then the CWB and forward contracting will accomplish your goals. Whining and crying for government subsidies will help out to a very limited degree; and off farm income and the wife's contribution and the odd inheritance will ensure the survival of a fraction of farm enterprises.
Few have the marketing dicipline (or the practical ability) to do otherwise.

It used to be one year in a decade or longer that gave the opportinity to make more profit than all the other years put together. You can't do that with no production to sell. You also can't do that with the CWB in place for board crops. And the one year in ten now has repeated itself as only about 3 years from the 2008 price spike.

Some pretty big sales of grain made in the last few days.

Algeria is trying to prevent rioting.

That special relationship the cwb builds with its customers must come in handy in this case. Two months ago the cwb was saying they could not sell into algeria. Now algeria is looking for durum. Hopefully the cwb tells them they need at least 200 dollars more to cover their import tariff, instead of giving our durum away again.

Gotta give the algerians credit, they know how to play the cwb.

              Patience, grasshopper.

You don't want this thing to blow. A horse that shits fast, doesn't shit for long.

The world is just coming to terms with the lack of grain if another 2010 comes along. This was not a stocks rebuilding year. So everyone is nervous.

A nice slow climb will be better. There will be a setback or two, but 10 bucks by mid february.

Just a gut feeling. The cwb has got to start buying acres pretty soon. They are at 100 percent call which means they are effectively sold out. And that means they have nothing other than what has been committed to the ppo's to sell. There will be very durum or wheat left in the bins by April 30, 2011.
