what is feed wheat worth in alberta?

I am thinking that not all of my wheat is going to mature before a frost, and possibly I should be selling some as feed wheat to a mill or ethanol plant.

Anyone know what a current bid for feed wheat is in central or southern alberta? Delivery could be anytime this fall. I am wanting to compare it to the cwb prices.

Alberta Canola Producers Commission price survey of elevators will give you
an idea of the spot market. Range across the province is $4 to $4.50/bu.
Needs to be 58 lb/bu plus.

Red Deer and Lloydminster are you ethanol choices but neither wants frosted
or sprouted feed wheat (particularly CWRS) as reduces their alchohol yield.
They need high starch to make alchohol. Higher protein means more
enzymes and complexity in processes. Ideal is always something like a high
grade soft white spring/CPS/low protein CWRW. Will see corn into these
plants (at least Lloyd) again this winter - corn is the perfect distilling grain.

      Charlie,

Permolex at Red Deer is a gluten flour mill as well as producing ethanol.

The starch componenet then goes to the ethanol side.

High px / quality wheat is highly desired and needed for their value added processes.

Some wheat is bought just for the ethanol process... but this is a smaller percent of volume processed.
