BHP I think its Awesome! Good bye MR Doyle!

Personally I like the fact BHP is going for broke and looking at buying Sask Potash.
one Mr Doyle Good bye. Live in USA and Preach about Potash. Give me a break. Yes you will become filthy rich over this deal with your stock options but at least we don't have to listen to you any more.
BHP is going to set up headquarters in Saskatoon for the potash side. Good one them.
Good for investors in Sask Potash some Saskatchewan people will do very very well.
Bad for farmers though as one less player in potash market.
Good for Saskatchewan as a whole. Province will do very well.

Only thing that could be a bit negative about the deal is that BHP said it would pull out of Canpotex which would mean a fast end to that entity. So loss of jobs.

BHP currently does not mine potash so it will not decrease competition just changing owners.

Hopefully BHP gets into N production also or breaks the N cartel, this is where we will cut the real expenses. Put N at 30 cents per lb of N and what numbers would that be for all of western Canada.

Does it make any sense to break the monopolies? The fert companies shares are already double the value because of forward looking profits. Decreasing the value of fertilizer would mean less profit, actually no profit. We are screwed no matter what. We need all the shareholders of POT to think that their company is only worth 60 dollars per share. Good luck with that. I think better off BHP does not buy pot and hopefully comes out better off by doing mine building.

last time I check PCS was the world 2nd largest producer of nitrogen fertilizer.

If 16.5 million acres were seeded then Alberta must brown bag alot of seed since seed sales across the prairies are way down way down. Some one is lying big time.
