    Canola Down HARD....

Whats going on with this market this week? Down almost three percent on the Novemeber Futures...Any reasoning? Buyers are thinking the heat will bring this HUGE crop in? Specs jumping out?

It's not only the CWB marketing that is screwed up. No way canola only 9.50 to 10 with this much gone and crappy. Same with all the other crops except maybe lentils lots of lentils and excellent crop,

They want to wait till all the kernels are combined...Then if there is 1 extra...the price will not have to go up....

This as transparent a market... as exists anywhere. It is a global market... used by anyone anywhere.

If you know it is too low... BUY a call option!

It sure looks to me like Alberta will have a massive crop!!! The yellow is blinding!!!!

You have to remember the commodities like Canola are a gambling
game. The price has to go up and drop to keep and interest in playing
              the game.
Having said that and just finished a trip to SW Sask. via Outlook
then Calgary and home via Unity. We have the worst crop and
more unseeded of the total trip. I saw very little dried out
area but some flood damage. All crops are very late and the
              amount of yellow is unbelievable.
If there is no frost until Oct 1 there is more chance for
              $7-8 dollar canola the $11.

okey blinding yellow in your areas but there always is isn't there? the area not seeded is huge, most of the rest is very late and the market is supposed to react on probabilities is it probable that it won't freeze until oct 1? because if it does freeze sept1 which is many areas average what will there be then? that's how the market is supposed to work.

                  skhadenuf,

Normal first frost is Sept 10.

The Canola seed will be there... green seed could be a problem.

IF Two hot weeks... and we are back to a normal situation in much of NE Alberta if seeded before June 1.

Canola will be a tough one to call because seeding dates vary from april 25 to june10th.. Weather will effect crops in differant ways. No way all will make it unless it burns in then we are talking yield loss also..
