No Oats Around Here

I keep reading statements from posters here of no oats in their area. That is very true of this area, the Red River valley west of Winnipeg. This is a big oats area, with normally about 20% of acres in oats, by my estimation. Not this year. I have seen only one field of oats in the area that I travel (and it looks like crap due to excess moisture).

The lack of oat acres isn't due to any difficulties seeding. Not here anyhow. This area is 95% seeded. It was crappy price and lots of on farm stocks.

What about your area? What did you seed to oats, compared to what you normally would plant.

Ok 300 me seeded 10 may 300 neighbor seeded june 10 and 300 buddy done last monday. That's it for miles and yes its because of price.

No oats here either. Usually seeded last, nobody got to the last!

Maybe 2% oats here, 1% flax at best.

Typically oats planted last here also, not many acres here, I know of one field planted with a valmar looks great, but hmmm one field.

10%of my acres are in oats as compared to 15-20%most years. just heading out and look good....price was the deciding factor...oats are one of the first crops i always seed. seeded april 22. oats have done well in the excessive moisture this year.

It wont be organic t bones but your more then welcome to come Pars...the oats have alot to make up for some of my canola acres and my lonely quarter of flax that is still yellow...nearing 20 in of rain since the first of may.

I should add that us and most neighbors have carried over oats, some with a second birthday soon. Could pay to store this year.

rbrunel, I eat conventional food all the time. I just avoid buying a product if I cannot pronounce most of the ingredients on the label. You know the kind. But thanks.. I'd take you up on it too. LOL

And $fjlip$, you can bring the lobster. You can afford it. LOL Better put a lock on your bins, too. LOL

Lets make it first week of August and I will bring fresh saskatoon pies.

I could bring mole fillet, thinly sliced and marinated, as I have trapped 13 of them, but the fox ran away with my trap and mole. Swedish trapper. Duh. I have to buy a new one. And anchor it.

We need one more rich oatie to bring wine and ice wine. Speak up.
