I seen a ship load of moth's for two nights near the end of April's warm stretch and thought oh-oh. Anyway I hear moth traps set out, were full during that week or more. Why was there not alerts all over to the potential of serious hatching accuring now? I never heard a peep from the canola council or local ag "experts". I heard there is a blurb in the W/P from yesterday as to diamond backs but nothing on cutworms, or did I miss that little tid bit of info? Too little too late for some in this area. Most have been so busy scrambling to get finished seeding and just had no time to look - but somebody in the system knew there may be a problem back in April. Not blaming anyone but a heads up a little sooner could/would of saved alot of headaches now.

Cutworms are taking out more canola everyday in this area - the usual "I don't have them!" one day, five days later (today) J/C - WTF happened to my canola, I just looked a few days ago!!!
Crop insurance was buisy today. Some field wiped right out. -

Sounds like it is covered under the establishment portion, for canola it is $45/ac. It is on the SCIC website.Comment
