    New Canola on the way?

"Arcadia Biosciences has conducted field trials in five growing seasons. In each field trial, Nitrogen Use Efficiency (NUE) canola demonstrated that it can achieve high yields using significantly less nitrogen fertilizer than conventional varieties. In the chart above, note that NUE canola yielded 2800 lb/ac using two-thirds less nitrogen fertilizer than the conventional variety needed to generate the same yield."

lets see .66 less nitrogen NH3@700 approx .82 n 38.8 cents /lb actual . Lets use 100 lbs of n an acre for ease of calculation reduce fert to 33 lbs leaving 67 lbs times 38.8 =

In other news today Arcadia biosciences has announced a TUA fee of 30 dollars an acre on their new technology. ( Cynical? me?)

Wonder how they are doing it? Legume style? or some other way of
using N that is around us?

Not cynical at all, mc. Cynical is where a company has determined, and convinced the public that nitrogen application is evil. It will need to be increased in price by three times to make up for the 2/3rds decrease in use, along with the $30 TUA.

And this helps us how? Oh right!, a thinner wallet with more production. Just what is needed.

                  ...or the laundry.

Do you see a timeline for commercialization, Tom?

let me guess - the seed will be priced at a premium that will just about cover the savings on nitrogen!
