      Parsley,

Here are some questions for you.

#1. On an old AV post, Parsley was looking to 3rd party source organic/not sprayed barley for $8.00/bushel. Was this true or was she just typing?
#2. I followed up on that AV post, we talked on the phone and then the story became more opaque and elusive, leading to NO SOLID CREDIBLE leads. If I recall, the quote was "they will call you".
#3. Is parsley really that credible, or just typing semi controversial stuff to advertise her blog? Like Gormley does on the radio?
#4. This year is your organic market contract prices going to reflect profitable prices?
#5. How many organic producers are going to exit the organic industry, and throw plow down (smf) acres back into conventional (GMO) canola, and risk the 4 years transition back into organic...or just stay out?
#6. Is the US going to buy organic grains?
#7. IS the US going to buy organic grains? (purposely redundant).

I know how you may feel, hobbyfrmr. However, consider this. Parsley's taken a devious hit that has turned her attention away from her incessant chatter. It was nice while it lasted. (lol)

On the matter of flax, I was told that there was a $1.00/bushel spread difference in human grade selected flax and bulk flax. So, pandering to the customers whims was worth it. Ed White (Winnipeg bureau) claims the spread is 50 cents/bushel, and that at one time that spead was only 10 to 15 cents per bushel.

Just like there is a little bit of triffid in my flax, so too is there a little bit of truth in what Parsley, or any of us say. Just relax. It's not life ending.

          Hobby,

Here are a few answers for you.

#1. We get requests for product all the time. From large and small companies. Domestic and export.I posted them on my blog for awhile, but it was too time consuming putting buyer and seller together, and often thankless. Also get calls from people looking to sell product, such as yourself, and I passed on your name as a courtesy. I am not a dealer, and have no designs on dealing. You mentioned you had been a dealer of sorts, hobby, so you'll be the expert.

#2. I do not ask for any commissions for any tips passed on, nor expect them
Often companies check on location to fill and facilitate trucking, and also on how easy a guy is to deal with for an export package. The organic business is a little like the malt business. You kinda get to know who and what a guy IS.

#3 I don't get paid for my blog work, nor allow advertising on it. It's my time and my say. I would suggest there is nothing you could learn from reading it.

#4. Organic market in 2010, you inquire, ....french lentils went out yesterday, and flax goes in a day or so, I think beginning of the week... $22.00 per bushel on the farm, price not quite as vibrant, but the harvest wasn't the best either. Heritage grains shipping out continulously. Sainfoin sales continual. etc. Lots of seed calls. I referred several people last week.

#5. "How many organic producers are going to exit the organic industry..."

Sounds as if you might know all the answers to this question, so I'll let you answer. I usually try and back my words up with data and links, and I'm afraid I have been galavanting and out of the loop, so I cannot reliably say x number will exit on October 31, 2010.

#6. Is the US going to buy organic grains? Barley for processing company prob heading south prob next month. We've sold to the same company for over 10 years or maybe 15, i can't remember.. Been down there. Get along well.Great people. No troubles, nor sarcasm. I'd tell you the price but you'd really call me a liar.

"Some birds love to hear themselves sing."

Not a peep from me again, so save your call(s). You obviously are able to out market anyone. Pars

Pars-fk em they already are marginalized by their
lack of commitment and input-they need no
            address.

            We are in a state.

            I hope i am wrong.

It wouldnt take many links to prove my canadian
dollar outlook for the past 6 years.

I think we may double from here.

                Parsley,
Ask the questions, get the answers. Thank you for the answers. I had never had any "calls" from my follow up. It never bothered me until this thread. It struck me more like a preachers sermon instead of a new crop checklist. Sounded kind of like, not me... but you guys make sure that.......I am aware its a public opinion forum and, so, today I thought it was time to push back a little!! Springtime.

                  Parsley,
Re read your answers, and truth for certain is that you were not looking for commissions on payment on the organic grains. That was not my intentions here on AV. In the phone call you stated that it was a courtesy. I found it unusual that nothing happened. Actually I forgot about it untill the "checklist".

O.K. Iam bored and I'll bite.
1 my guess would be a couple of European countries.
                    2 no
                    3 yes
                    4 no
5 mostly exported and yes at an adjusted price.
                    5 no
                    6 no
                    7 summerfallow
                    8 everyone
                    9 yes
10 you increase your unmanageable risk by spending more money one does not have to increase your production that at this time is not wanted or needed.
11 all weather or environment conditions being average or normal in grain producing countries... continued lower prices.

cotton, are you selling out this spring(auction sale)??? if are dollar goes to 1.25 or doubles as you last suggested, were basically screwed farming in Canada, are we not ! If the Euro and USD tank that much how could we possible sell into those contries, they will set the global price for commodities, and how can we possibly compete with in the market with 2nd or 3rd world countries, after considering their cheap labour and land? I'v traveled to some of these places and believe me, the labour is cheap!
Is it time to seed it down to grass and rent it for what you can get?
