    Canola Inventory

Apparently there is still 2.5million mt of canola out there, hence canola is on a steady slide down even though it looks like May 15 out there and it's only March and the hasn't been rain anywhere north of red deer and west of Maidstone in over 18 months.

The question I ask is how much canola is actualy left out there taking into accont heated, shrink, mould, broken bags, high dockage... ?

We have only about 15% left. Sold most in Dec/early jan. About 5% heated on us. Some had 30% of their total heat.

100 percent left because all on June July Sept delivery contract. 10 percent has some heat damage. Thinking to hold over the heat damage to new crop, will decide when my name comes up on the list that was supposed to be two months ago already.

Interesting the Chinese have been buying up every bushel of flax that the Europeans have rejected so far, What is wrong with our canola? OH we are talking Chinese, they want discount.

Have maybe moved 5% of approx 4800 tonne. Some is on a basis contract but the balance will hopefully be marketed in the summer. Have a couple bins of 17% moisture froze solid. OPI cables have indicated below freezing all winter so hopefully all will be okay. Now that the temp is starting to be above freezing the fans are running to start the unthaw/drying process

Have half left yet, because local elevator has been plugged most of the winter. Now moving canola out of bag that was 11 to 13 moisture and it is ice cold. Bags have paid off big time. Anybody have any heating problems in the bags.

None at all from Bags. Its the Way to go. Dried 21 to 24 moisture hrs and its froze solid in bag. Nice way to go.

Had quite a few guys around here have heating in bags. Also some bags were bursting wide open with a lot of losses. A few like them. Many are waiting to see, and not liking what they see. And finally some guys are getting rid of the "$#%&*@#$" system.
