    Look out CWB is watching

Got a letter today the CWB will be inspecting bins of Durum. To make sure I have not over declared to much production. Funny they can change their numbers when ever they seem fit. Pros , acceptance levels, and on hard white wheat no deliveries. They are not marketers with the farmer in mind. Do not they realize that farmers have paid imputs on this crop a year and a half ago and they do not want to market it for us....please give us marketing freedom.

Just borrow a few bins from the neighbors.

Oh and don't forget when they show up to ask them for their fall protection certification and their harness to climb the bins. Push them on industry rules. OHSA would and you should too.

Make sure they hard hats on as you never know what might fall off a bin. Icicles etc.

Just give them a hard time. Then start asking when a producer might get paid on what is in the bin.

Then tell them they can come and measure in two years because the durum will still be there.

    Incompetence.

Do they actually have the legal right to enter your farm?

They audited us about 3 years ago. They sent the local crop insurance adjuster out to measure our bins. It was about - 20 with a wind blowing. I told him he can crawl every bin on the farm. I told him I didn't remember which ones had durum in them and which ones did not. I also said that if he wanted to come into my office I could tell him which bins had durum in them based on my records. He chose that route and audited us from the comfort of my office. Needless to say we had plenty of durum to cover our contract. It was just another waste of money from the pool account. If they come back this year I will politely ask them to leave.

The only reason the have to do this is that some idiots would not play by the same rules as everyone else.

Would it not be easier to charge a much larger fine for non delivery? But I guess we are working with people that have no other work history background I guess, what do we expect?

No stubble, the system you love is based on coercion and coercion needs enforcement.

                  stubble

Instead of using the same old marketing tactics that force farmers not to follow rules - why doesn't the cwb find a new way to market durum?

Answer that and I think the problem of having durum police/gestapo goes away.

                  Incompetence.

Yes tipsy, its a contract. What are the terms? Can someone actually read what they signed and let us know?
