    what next?

Now that the Christmas holiday season is past and we are heading back into the routine of kids in school and the better half off to work, I want to put down some thoughts that keep me awake at night.

When I think of how many times we were 1 or 2 degrees away from total disaster with th '09 crop, I wonder, what next?

When I think of the growing population of the planet in areas that cannot sustain that growth (hot dry places) I wonder, what next?

When I think of the speed of intercontinental travel and how quickly a pandemic could spread around the world I wonder, what next?

When I think of the destruction of the environment around the world today to grow food I wonder , how will we do it tomorrow?

We have been promised the promised land in Ag for so long I wounder what next. Like you said this year we were 1 to 2 degrees away from a total disaster on more than one night. Yet we pulled it off with a little help. Brazil looks like the Amazon rains might actually be beginning early like now. If it rains for the next two weeks then the rains start as usual they will be in trouble. Way to wet way to wet. But if its just light showers they have dryers and will go within hours of rain. So Whats next who knows just getting sick of waiting for the promised land.

If there is too many people and not enough land, why are food expenditures the lowest proportion of a family's budget as they have been in history.

Who said there was too many people and not enough land? Reality is that ethanol is simply subsidized surplus disposal and if the US can no longer subsidize ethanol we will be in a world of hurt. People trapped in disfunctional economies will be starving regardless of what the production levels are in the rest of the world.

If those types of issues keep you awake at night, you need a second job!!! Preferably one that starts just prior to when those thoughts pop into your head. Your better half will appreciate it, as she may now not have to go to work, and thus be able to enjoy sleeping the extra sleep you're not able to use.

Do you ever wonder if you can control any of your top four listed thoughts?

Isn't your plate full dealing with neighbours one municipality away, rather than continents away?

A glass of warm milk could help.

          Don't worry - be happy!

Without fear one cannot have courage.
Trick is to change fear into courage. Courage without fear would be meaningless. Checking where do you get your courage from?
