Anyone notice how the trees aren't normal fall colors?

Yea, our trees were not ready for the fall, and the leaves seemed to just die prematurely. Most are a sickly green, brown color, all a result of the freeze following a cold growing season in which they did not finish properly.

Here in the RR Valley none of our oak trees have any
acorns this year. I have never seen this happen.
Tough to be a squirrel.

Yep same in this area. The trees went from green to grey without any of the intermediate yellows and reds. In fact the large ash tree I have in my yard lost all of its leaves in a two hour period one calm morning at the beginning of the month. It was like one of those cartoons where the trees lose their leaves all at once, you could almost hear the thud as they all hit the ground at once.

My guess is that with the incredibly warm September and lots of moisture (at least in our area) after a very cool summer, the trees were staying green much longer. Then in a matter of a day or 2, the sh_t weather hit, the chlorophyll in the leaves was locked in by the frost and the leaves just didn't go through the normal senescence of changing color and drying up. It is weird alright. I have totally disregarded the effects of shortening daylight with this theory but what the hell.
