In the last western producer they reported that a group of calves (900 lbs) sold for a high of $1.27/lb.! Now that is $1143 per animal! How would you like to have that calf check in your pocket?
There is a guy just east of Red Deer who brings these huge calves to sale every year. Calves early and they are on a creep feed in the fall. Big stout calves that always sell very well in early November. They are usually sneaking up around that 850-875 lb. mark. Don't know if he makes any money but he has been doing it for as long as I can remember.
