    The Gong Show Continues

5000 head in the cooler. They start up the processing line to clear them out. Half way through the cattle the process stops....because XL shuts down the line and lays off the workers! Why did that happen?
The CFIA then announces until they can see the "ecoli controls" working in an active processing situation, the plant will not be able to reopen!
But wait...there now isn't anybody working to do the processing!
Catch 22? We're at an impasse!
Meat will start being rendered on Monday.
Gerry Ritz says his heart is with the poor workers. The Brooks mayor says we need to get the workers on EI as soon as possible. Alberta Ag minister Verlyn Olsen wrings his hands over the poor workers and phones Ritz and cries on his shoulder!
What is wrong with this picture?
How about Olsen and Redford getting on the phone to Harper and telling Harper "Listen you idiot, Get that damned plant open tommorrow! Tell your moron ag minister to start kicking some asses over at the CFIA! Seventeen days is enough time to get everything fixed and cleaned up! Tell the CFIA half wits if that plant isn't up and running they can join their brothers on the soup line!"!
This whole thing is ridiculous? These incompetent government clowns are going to finish off the industry.......and then where will the poor workers be? How about the poor farmers and ranchers....where will they be? Are Harper and Ritz going to put us all on EI too?.... government incompetence at it's finest!

I doubt if all 5000 would have been enough to prove the process was OK. Beaurocrats are exceptionally slow at learning how to do their job for fear of making any decision.

I guess we could all apply for EI too.

Good post ASRG. Causing the waste of 5000 beef carcasses should put somebody in jail.
