    Late twins

Something I've never experienced before this year -
getting a lot of twins in the 2nd half of the 2nd cycle.
Normally we get them in the first cycle, this year we
    were 78% calved 1st cycle with 1 set. I've now had 4
more sets from the last 10 that calved. Only 15 cows
left to calve so not sure if we are done with twins or
    not.
Not a bad problem to have but I wonder if others find
getting them late like this is unusual and what might
    cause it?

Changing some bulls out this yr so as farmers
    always say...."next year"

Maybe a nutritional change in the pasture
at that stage? Strange. I don't notice
twins much. We have a set this year, but
don't get too many. I personally dislike
having twins for several reasons. Split
sex twins mess up a heifer to market, and
if there are any problems with
calving/nursing twins don't work real well
      in our system.

I find the twins work so well in our system calving on
banked grass - I calved one because they were
tangled up but the rest all calved themselves, up and
suckled just fine. I corral them for a few days to get
them used to keeping the calves together but apart
from that there is no extra work and our breedback
on the cows never seems to suffer.

I'll happily trade any premium I might get on a heifer
calf for having an entire extra calf to sell. Funny how
we talk about cow efficiency and discuss RFI but the
chance at getting two calves per cow instead of one
for little or no extra expense is something most
        ranchers would rather avoid.

This is the year we had s set if twins, we are
pretty pumped... Extra calf to sell... But a little
more effort but still not a big deal.
