    Big Calves?

    Anybody getting bigger calves than usual? Have had three in a row that are really big. Same three cows had calves around 90 lbs last year.....all these calves in the 110-125 range. Same bulls.

      We've had a few. Not so big that they've been a problem, but big enough that we've noticed it. Same thing with the same bull/same cows. Our theory is that when the winter's a cold one, the cows will eat more to compensate. The result? Bigger calves. We've had lots of minus 30 type days here this winter.

          No bovine fault issues here but we had a bit nicer winter than you did.
